The International Brotherhood of Magicians (I.B.M.) is the world’s largest, premier organization for amateur and professional magicians. Founded in 1922 to promote, foster, and protect the art of magic and headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri, it connects thousands of members across 88 countries through local “Rings,” an annual convention, and The Linking Ring magazine.
The organization focuses on upholding ethics in magic and providing a platform for both seasoned professionals and hobbyists. Membership is open to those with a serious interest in the art of illusion.
History:
Founded by Len Vintus, Gene Gordon, and Don Rogers as a correspondence club, it has served the magic community for over 100 years.
Mission: To unite magicians worldwide, elevate the standards of magic as an art form, and provide a welcoming community for enthusiasts aged 12 and older.
Local Rings:
With over 300 local groups (Rings) worldwide, members can meet, practice, and discuss magic in their local communities.
Resources:
Members receive The Linking Ring, a monthly publication featuring magic tricks, news, and interviews.
Events:
The I.B.M. hosts an annual convention featuring world-class performances, lectures, and major competitions like the Gold Medal Contest.
